Explanation of cover

Audience:
The group of people that will be most interested in my magazine are women entering college, or women who are already in college. I tried to make my audience clear based on the stories that I included and the products that were featured such as makeup.

Masthead:
The name of the magazine is Dragonfly, because I wanted to try and represent women through a feminine title. The logo of the is a dragonfly, because it is a symbol of what the title is.

Mode of Address:
The magazine talks to the reader by, having the model look directly into the camera. When they do this, it draws in the attention of the reader, making them want to read it. Also the fire in the background looks cool, giving the reader another reason to want to read the magazine.

House Style:
The distinctive style to my magazine is the word dragonfly that is in skinny letters, italisiced, and blue. It does not look like any of the other competitors title. It stands out with its own sense of style that relates to my magazine.

Headline:
The catchy title for the main article is College study tips. This title is not extremely catchy, but it gets to the point of college tips. I want the readers to know that studying is a big deal, so I tried to keep the title professional.

Cover Lines:
Some of the cover lines that draw the reader in are, winter fashion and beauty tips. This will especially draw women in because women enjoy beauty and fashion tips. A women that love beauty could pick up this magazine and want to read it because of the featured tips.

Banner:
There really is no banner in my magazine, because of how large the title is and how the photo was positioned, there was no extra room at the top.

Strap Line:
This is located under my headline, the explanation of what is going to be covered in the study tips article. The strap line is important in making sure the reader understands what is being said.

Slogan:
The slogan to this magazine is spread your wings. I choose this because it is unique, no other magazine has it, and it will be hard to forget once you read it off my magazine. The point of including a slogan is to make the readers remember it, which I did.

Anchorage:
The text and pictures work together to create meaning because the theme of the picture is winter, and the theme of the cover lines winter. They work together to ensure that they both follow the same theme for the whole magazine.

Buzz Words:
Some of the buzz words included were free, tricks, and ace. These words would be considered buzz words because they help draw in the attention of the reader.

The incentive in my magazine is a buy one get one free coupon for an ELF makeup product.

The sweet spot is located in the bottom right corner to ensure that it cannot be missed. What is in the sweet spot is the buy one get one free on the ELF makeup product.
