Magazine Themes
For our magazine, we thought of different ways on how to change up the theme for each magazine. We still have to keep the same overall idea for our magazines, but we can each do our own themes. We decided to each make a magazine with one of the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Spring :
Spring ranges from March 1 to May 31 each year. During spring the temperatures gradually rise and the flowers begin to bloom. The days get longer and it begins to get warmer outside. Spring symbolizes rebirth, renewal, love, hope, and youth. When making a magazine with the theme of Spring, there should be bright colors and somehow include flowers. The model on the front cover should be dressed bright and have flowers on their outfit or in their hair. The title color should be yellow or green, both of those being spring colors. This magazine, weddingbells, is an example of a spring edition of a magazine. The model has flowers in her hand and is wearing a pink dress, which is another spring color. The background is grassy and has bushes to represent nature, which is a big part of spring.
Summer:
Summer ranges from June 1 to August 31 each year. During summer, the temperatures reach their max and could cause a drought. The animals have to try and find shade because of how hot it is under the sun in the mid-days. The sun symbolizes life, influence, and strength. When making a magazine with the theme of Summer, there should be images taken outside, bathing suits, and the ocean or pools. During summer, people think of barbecues and the beach. The model on the front should be dressed in summer colors, such as orange and green. This magazine, Porter, is an example of a summer magazine. The model is in the water, and the sun is shinning behind her. The title is yellow, which is the color of the sun, and the sun is a large part of summer.
Fall:
Fall ranges from September 1 to November 30 each year. During fall, the days become shorter and the temperature drops slightly. The leaves fall off of the trees and change their colors. Fall symbolizes ripeness, changes, maturity, beauty, or sadness. When making a magazine in the theme of fall, there should be there should be colors such as brown, green, orange, and red. Winter ranges from December 1 to February 28 each year. During winter, the temperature drops significantly, and in some parts of the world it snows. Lakes freeze over and people go sledding and drink hot chocolate. Winter symbolizes old age, death, and loneliness.
